2. The UdeM Exemption Scholarship.

The UdeM Exemption Scholarship is available for three different degree levels: undergraduate, master’s, and PhD at the University of Montreal. The scholarship covers courses across various fields such as Arts & Sciences, Education, Engineering, Environmental Design, Health Sciences, Humanities, Law, Music and Performing Arts, Science and Technology. The scholarship offers reduced financial burden for international students by significantly lowering the cost of studying at one of Canada’s leading universities.

The UdeM exemption scholarship at the UniversitΓ© de MontrΓ©al offers various benefits for international students applying for Undergraduate, master’s and PhD programs.

  • Undergraduate: Offers three levels of funding – Level A with $11,998 per year, Level B with $5,718 annually, and Level C with $2,000 each year, helping reduce the annual tuition fee of $23,662.
  • Master’s: Non-research students receive $10,474.65 annually, while research students get $10,347.75, increasing to $15,149.70 from Fall 2024. This substantially offsets the annual tuition fees ranging from $29,592 to $30,829.50.
  • PhD: Students receive a complete tuition waiver and additional funding of $19,339 annually, increasing to $22,241.25 for certain programs. This significantly reduces the annual tuition fee of approximately $24,300 to $26,562.60.

3. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship is offered by the Canadian government and is open to both Canadian and international students. This scholarship is awarded to highly motivated and competitive students who are pursuing a doctoral degree at a Canadian institution.

Applicants should demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health.

Since 1975, the OGS program has been providing merit-based scholarships to Ontario’s best graduate students in all disciplines of academic study. The scholarship program at is jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto. The OGS is valued at $5,000 each session. Therefore, recipients of the scholarship may get $10,000 or $15,000 for two consecutive sessions or three consecutive sessions.

5. University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship.

The University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship and is offered annually to undergraduate students who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Therefore, International students entering first year in any undergraduate degree program are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship value is $15,000 and is renewable in the second, third and fourth year at the University of Calgary, provided recipients achieve a GPA of 2.60 or more over a minimum of 24.00 units in the previous fall and winter terms. The total value of the scholarship is $60,000 over a period of four years. International students wishing to apply can pick any subject from the list of Bachelor’s degree program of the University of Calgary.
